I got an email from Jeroen aka Mr Do around the new year. It happens once or twice a year that he wants to say hi and ask me what I am doing. Jeroen has always been cool in my book. Too bad I wasn't around when the fallout happened between him Widdy, TonyRC and others. I still don't get what the commotion was all about. I still talk to Tony on FB and he said that he has of coming bad here.

One guy I was always wondering about was gklinger. He and I sometimes never saw eye to eye but his Commodore 64 knowledge was fantastic and I really respected him for that. I wonder what happened to him.

A few years ago one of my students (13 years old) wrote a program that he was impressed with and he sent me a C64 Programmers Reference Guide to give to him as a gift (free of charge and postage etc.) The student still uses it now! More recently I sold him some (modern) Commodore hardware but since then total radio silence. I hope he is okay.

Widdy was seriously pissed off with Jeroen at that time. So was I.
Wow I think we're talking about around 2006 if I'm not mistaken.
Gee time flies...

What was that fight about? I have tried looking but it seems that thread has been deleted. Question

Firefox, I believe Jeroen has deactivated his account.
I am in close contact with TonyC on Facebook and he keeps in contact with WiDDy and HalfSaint (Bojan). I've asked him if he would return, now that Jeroen is not here any more and he did not rule it out. I guess I should be more insistent. Lemon without WiDDy is like lemonade without Lemon. Smile

Well does that explain why we now have so many pro-Microsoft posters here today?

Were they the people who really understood just how much other companies held back the computer industry between launch of 8088PC and Pentium PC with complete lack of cutting edge hardware or OS developments?

Dude, I am not pro-MS. I am pro-interoperability. MS products connect to more non-MS sources than the non-MS products connect to MS. If you follow my mangled sentence. But this thread is not for this discussion.

Hmm, there must have a been a story between them...didn't got it back then. TonyC, you mean the TonyC from Australia? I've met him years ago. He's a very very kind person. And WiDDy, it would be nice to have him back here... Very Happy

That's like saying Yugo car parts don't fit on an F1 car. I acknowledge for retro emulator fans XP is best 95% of the time yes. Still a fatally flawed design from 1985.....today. But yes further off topic Smile

TMR still posts frequently on Atariage and his own format war website so something must have put him off posting here. I think I will ask him why as he still defends the C64 and we have good technical conversations about the C64 and new add-ons.

Actually a few of the C64 sceners do.

I still check the boards occasionally but I was never much of a poster. Changes in time and all that rot. Still fire up my c64 to play Pirates or whatever suits me at the moment. Sad to see some prolific contributors no longer posting. Wanted to re-read "Revenge of the Longest Thread", but can't find it.

I don't post but still check in every so often to see what's happening in the world of C64. When I got started here 10 years ago I was a teenager in high school; now I have graduated from university and have lived in multiple countries. Lemon64 keeps going, nice to see Very Happy
