The game I'm thinking of you move your rig at the top of the screen left and right with the joystick, then you push something (likely the joystick button but possibly the "space" or "enter" key) to stop there and start drilling. And When in drilling mode, you hold down direction on the joystick, to drill down. If you find a rock blocking your path you press the joystick button (or was it the "space" or "enter" key) to place a dynamite charge. When this happens, it auto-retracts your drilling bit, and sets off the dynamite. Then you hold down on the joystick again to keep drilling. If you find oil, great. If not, you can move your oil drilling rig sideways to a new position and try drilling again.

The more oil you get the more money you get. This adds up score for you. Of course there's always a catch in a game. The longer it takes either the more likely a timer runs out and it's "game over", or you lose money/points for every interval of time you go without finding money. I don't remember exactly how it went, but it seems something like this is was how it worked.

If you get oil it shows a little sprite animation above your rig that looks like oil gushing out of it.

I don't remember the colors exactly, but I believe that it was black lines on black background (monochrome) for most of it.



Now if anyone here can find a name for the game I've just described, I'll be real happy.


It may take significant research, especially if it wasn't produced by a "game company" but instead just by a "person who liked writing games". Also if it wasn't by a game company there may not have been any manufactured disks. I don't remember how I got the game on my Commodore a long time ago. Was it on a disk I had? Or did I download it through Quantum Link from someone's bulletin board page? If no disks were sold it may be VERY difficult to track it down, (especially for finding a disk image of it which would be my ultimate goal) as it would require that a person who downloaded it have kept the floppy disk they downloaded it to. Even finding screen shots of it may be VERY difficult if it wasn't a popular game, especially if no floppy disks were manufactured with the game.

I would really like it if I'm just overlooking something real obvious here, but since my hours long search for it has turned up nothing, I fear it may be a very rare game.

ANY help here or info on any potential candidates for the game I'm thinking of would be appreciated.
