thanks to everybody who helped me to find a good solution to transfer floppy files from the c64 to pc and now i have another question:
-do you have to plug in the zoomfloppy into the cartridge slot of the c64, having the 1541 connected to the zoomfloopy and from the zoomfloppy via usb to pc?
- then a new drives shows up on pc and then you can drag and drop or a 3rd party software is needed for it?
sorry for noobness.

The Zoom Floppy does not need the 64 at all. You can have the IEC Serial Bus (the round plug) connected from your 1541/1571/1581 to your Zoom Floppy. Then you can connect the Zoom Floppy (via USB) to your PC.

On your PC, you will need opencbm. You can use this manual to help. Also, this link is what I used to get mine up and running.

On a side note, if you retro fit your 1541/1571 with a Parallel cable, you can use that (in addition to the IEC Serial Bus).

Make sure you connect the 1541 to the ZoomFloppy first the turn the 1541 on and then plug the USB cable into the ZoomFloppy.

Turn it off the exact opposite of turning it on

Also get CBMXfer which is a GUI interface for OpenCBM. Makes life a lot easier.

I second the parallel cable option. I got mine off eBay for $15 and it's well worth it, especially for speed and nibbler (copy disks that are copy protected)

You are going to love the ZoomFloppy for sure!
