I had to download the source code to find out how it works. Essentially there is a register that will change the character height. So they set the height to 3 pixels. Then they use some of the existing characters figure out ways to fill the 8-pixels horizontal.

Still. the effect is pretty amazing.

That's cool. Never saw a "scene" style PET demo before!

Now to try it on real hardware...

Incredible. I hope Chuck has seen and heard this.

I first heard this version (using the piezo speaker) on the retro computing round table podcast. One of the presenters declared with great authority that it was not possible to do this this on a stock Pet. Job done Orb Smile
