Yes, the C64 version has all of the game play features of the original.

No, I haven't made a cheat like that, but I'll consider it.

mrsid, you did put in a level skip cheat I accidentally came across right Wink

Too bad that there isn't a Non-Easyflash/VICE version, because we also want to preview this on our next retro gathering in Wuppertal on 12th November on a real C64 + 1541U.

According to Gideon, the next firmware for the 1541U-II will have Easyflash support:

"2011-10-30: Firmware 2.4 is in beta testing. It supports reading of .crt files (finally), including EasyFlash."

Thanks for letting me know this. I still have the 1541U-I Revision which even make problems with the last official Firmware V2.2 (flashing LED's on bootup). Only a user made fix have make it possible to use it nevertheless. I have to check out V2.3 now but I think that upgrading the board is just a question of time (and money).

Unbelievable! Very Happy I used to play this back in the day on my best mate's Amiga and then for years afterwards on PC (mainly 'cause it was about the only game that my dad's XT could handle), and I'd have to say this conversion is better than anything we could have expected for the c64. Smile I've only had a quick bash at level 1 but it's great so far. Great work!

Though it's a bit frustrating and sad that this proves we could have had a spot-on conversion 20 years ago if the industry weren't turning into Amiga snobs. Sad

For me it was swapping the joystick port, fire button (bringing up the time left) then left. Smile Won't skip the last level Smile I want to play it properly anyway.

But are there any future projects?

Or don't you talk about that either?

Just been playing this on my real C64C and I am amazed at the quality of the game. Kudos to mrsid for such a brilliant conversion and MikeBetz42 to selling the Easyflash with the game supplied to someone in the UK who could only pay cash!

Thank you and congratulations on finishing this project!

AFAIK many ambitious C64 projects are never completed, which is a real shame. For example, where is the long-expected C64 conversion of Moonstone? It'd be fantastic to see how that game could be made for a machine with only 64K memory... Hmmh, now that I'm thinking about it, wasn't there a preview somewhere?

Mortal Kombat is another ambitious C64 conversion, the full version of which might never see daylight: http://www.gamebase64.com/game...18&h=0

Prince of Persia was one of my favorite games in the early 90's. I played it mostly on A500 but if my memory doesn't fail me, some of my friends had the PC version.

By the way, I happened to stumble upon some YouTube videos showcasing how PoP was made back in the day:

I don't know if this is just carried over from the Apple version or not, but on level 8, it's possible to get stuck if you kill a guard and he falls on a door opening switch. It's the screen directly to the left of the starting position. The door/gate opens when the guard steps on the switch, but then even if he falls on it, the door eventually closes. Since the guard is already holding down the switch you can't activate it again, leaving you stuck until you restart the level.

Here's a screenshot;
