When switching between PAL and NTSC on the latest C64 core, I have noticed that the top colour bar and the text at the bottom gets garbled and the colors are not the original ones.
This is not a major issue, but I was just asking myself if others can reproduce it. |

How do I access the settings menu where I can change 1541 settings and select keymaps?
I have looked in the release notes and the manual but couldn't find anything.
It would really help to have all recent info centralized somehwere instead of having to look through all the threads, blog comments and release notes. |

Hi humppa, I agree with your suggestion. It would be more easy that Arcade Retro Gaming deploy a normal forum like this one, where we can post all our suggestions and comments and where it can be more easy to look for information, that is actually spread on this forums.
Well, I just ordered my cool MCC-216 some days ago, I hope I can receive it soon to start testing it and have some fun with it. |

Absolutely. They have a blog:
http://www.blog.arcaderetrogaming.com/
...but it would be much easier to have a simple regular forum such as
http://www.minimig.net/
to have everything in one place. At the moment, all the information is spread in separate threads in separate forums (Atariage, lemon64, LemonAmiga, etc.) and it is difficult to find out what is the most recent info.
I still haven't found any info of how to access the C64 preferences menu. The release note for V2.1 (http://mcc-home.com/resources/MCC64_v21_release.txt) says there is a new menu, but there is no info of how to access it. Or has it been removed in V2.2 (which, by the way is listed as V2.2 on the website, but V2.02 in the release note...)?
There was also a change in the way how to swap disks, but in a thread with 21 pages, such info easily gets lost.

Did you order the VGA or S-Video version? Which type of monitor/TV are you using? |

Yap! two votes for a a simple regular forum for the MCC-216.
I will use my ViewSonic VA1932wm LCD monitor, the specifications says that the vertical frecuency is:
Frequency Fh: 24~82kHz, Fv: 50~75Hz
So aparently this is the requirement to use PAL mode.
(ordered the VGA version) |

@Juan
Yes, that should work. There is also a Wiki for Minimig display compatibility which might be interesting for people considering to buy the MCC-216 VGA-version:

I have installed an MCC unofficial forum on my site so we all now have one place where we can talk about all things MCC.
The forum is at http://www.retrorebooted.com/mcc/forum/
I have already posted about this forum on the Lemon Amiga site and I will also send an email to Arcade Retro Gaming so they know.
Thanks |

@EnigmaMystery
Thanks! Maybe you could also post it on Atari Age:

Thanks EnigmaMystery! done! now I registered on your forum.
And thanks humppa for the links you post some time ago. Did you solve this?

Hahaha!! Good one! Welcome to the world of closed source, where you find bugs and you just can't try to fix them
Look at the Minimig, it's constantly updated with small fixes here and there, because it's opensource, so it's far more advanced. And it makes money, too |

the amiga core for the mcc *is* minimig. hence my question. its gpl, i downloaded the binary, and thus whoever published the binary is obliged to make the source available. _________________ |

I think the same, but I smell something very fishy about this product after so much time, so I can't be sure. It has Minimig parts for sure, but I believe it has it's own sources mixed, too.
Anyway, they should make the sources available if no progress is really made on this. |

google "mcc 216 minimig" and you will find forum posts of the guy who appearently made the "amiga core" for the mcc - openly admitting it is minimig. (and wether they mix in their own stuff is irrelevant - infact if they did that, that stuff would automagically become GPLd aswell =P) _________________ |

Hmm. So if it's Minimig core modified to (partially) work in this MCC thing, then something went VERY wrong in the process of porting it
Well, the fact they don't release sources for their cores even if they use parts of open-source ones is even more fishy.
Using GPL code to make profit and then don't releasing it is just WRONG (in fact, it's ILLEGAL).

There are currently only 5 members including myself on my forum specifically for the MCC. Was this a bad idea as everyone seems to still be talking about it on here? I really don't mind but I thought it would be good to have a central place where everyone can talk about it.
Thanks |

No, it wasn't a bad idea at all. It just takes some time until such forums get going and show up more prominent on google. |

You select the AMIGA core.
In the selection menu you can switch between the menus if you go left and right with the Joystick or you can use the arrow keys on the keyboard.
You toggle to the following menus for the AMIGA: Game menu, Demo menu, User menu, Settings menu.

For the AMIGA implementation we are in close discussion with the MiniMig team and we feed back all improvements we do to their source.
In addition we integrate the CPU together with the chip set of the AMIGA for the MCC-216. This integration is ongoing and we are working on closing out some issues. The new release should fix most of the issue which the initial beta version still shows.
Stay tuned for the next release of the A-500 core for the MCC-216. |

There is a settings menu when using the C64 core, but there is none on the Amiga core. I think you were confusing the C64 with the Amiga core here.
Btw, thanks for releasing the Apple 2 core! It will become interesting when disk emulation is implemented. |

That's not what he asked. He asked for the full sources of the Minimig core you're shipping, as REQUIRED by the GPL. "We're feeding back bits and pieces to the original developers, you'll see them sometime in the future" does not magically put you into compliance with the licence you're bound by. |

you are obliged (this means: YOU MUST DO IT NO MATTER WHAT) to supply the full sourcecode required to build the exakt binary you are offering for download.
and if you dont, you are in violation of the GPL.
its that simple. _________________

There will be a settings menu like in the C64 for the official release of the AMIGA 500 core for the MCC-216.

Yes the disk emulation is for sure the next topic on the feature list for the Apple2 core.

Sure no objections from our side.
As mentioned we are in close contact with the MiniMig Development team and feed back all improvements. It's public since long time that we use the MiniMig code and the CPU core from Tobias. Please read as well the following link:
http://www.arcaderetrogaming.c...hop_param=
If anyone has some interest to port his core to the MCC-216 please contact us under: contact@arcaderetrogaming.com.
We are more than happy to support the community with additional information regarding the MCC-216. |
