I've had my order in with Play247 for two weeks now and was looking forward to receiving the game next Friday. Now that I've heard this I can't wait. Sounds like a pretty cool and authentic tribute and hardly a bigger platform to do it on. _________________ Shane.

its atmosphere should grab your attention immediately. don't worry, it's not the game's fault, it's just you _________________

It's heartening to see there's still a healthy respect for C64 and its ilk in Game Development Land.
I think that's one of the reasons I love the Edge mag so much. They remember and revere their gaming roots.
Hmmm ... how philosophic. I think I need to lie down for a while. |

Okay, so this is going from my admittedly shaky memory but i seem to remember that one Gary Penn had something to do with the GTA series, is he still involved (was he ever, is my memory actually right?) and does anyone think this intro is surprising if i'm right...? =-) |

As a dedicated C64 fan, you can imagine my surprise when i loaded Vice City on my XBOX and saw the Rockstar Loader. I was like WTF? OMG! Nice to see that the programmers respect their roots! |

Vice City is still far the best game in the whole GTA series. I even bought the Playstation 2 because of this game back in 2002. It was PS2 exclusive. Good old times when there was a reason to buy a console. What you get nowadays.. RRoD MS rubbish... Glad I quit buying new games and systems at least 6 years ago! |

Ah, looks like we have some Necromancers here, hmm?
I was also very surprised when I loaded "Vice City" for the first time. The game itself with all the music from the 80'ies is a classic for itself. And the Intro is amazing! _________________ My life without a breadbin would be

It was at the time, which is what he's implying. The Xbox version wasn't out until over a year later. _________________ Mayhem64 - for all your cartridge needs!

Just under six months later for the pc release. That's a timed exclusive, to clarify _________________ We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams |

I didn't know that, grande316. May have to read the instructions again.
However, I still can't believe the wanton violence in these games. I mean, belting up + driving over innocents seems to be a normal part of the game! Or, am I missing something?
[I'm one of those gamers that used to turn the the "gore level" off in the 3D shooters I used to play. Yet, I loved UTs and Quakes as much as the next guy ].
Still, I guess it's all the same as atomizing aliens in Space Invaders. |

[/quote]IIRC you could just put any mp3s you wanted into the music folder if you had it installed on your PC and the game would play them as your car radio. Two birds with one stone if you were a game/music fan! |

You might like the trailer I did for a chip album couple of years back. I actually coded this on the c64 and simulated the whole loading scheme, only the music is not authentic.
