I finally got around to reuploading my 3000GT pics.

It's such a great car.

A friend of mine has one; they weren't available in Canada, so he imported it from the U.S. Not a very good car for me; I tried sitting in it, and I have absolutely no headroom whatsoever. I need to have the seat reclined all the way back. He's shorter than me, so he loves it. Wink

What year is that? The snout is reminiscent of a Jaguar or Aston Martin and from the doors back it reminds me of a Toyota MR-2.

I'm fairly certain that car was sold in Canada under the Dodge Stealth moniker. There's a green Stealth in my neighbourhood that looks very much the same.

It's a 1999 model, the last year that it was made. They redesigned it that year.

That's because Chrysler owned Mitsubishi at the time. They rebadged the 3000GT and sold it as a Stealth. I've seen a few of them here, too, but not nearly as frequently as the 3000GT. I don't know why they bothered with it, to be frank.

There's no explaining that because you've got a very nice looking car there. It certainly doesn't look like a nine year old design to me. If it was mine I wouldn't be able to resist the temptation to paint it British racing green which I think would look quite smart with that front-end. I have this old fashioned notion that sports cars should be green with red reserved for Ferraris. Smile

With all due respect to our friend, trip6, no (although it's a neat colour, I'm a traditionalist). I'm talking about British racing green like this:

(I think that's one of the most beautiful cars ever made.)

I almost nearly bought a Dodge Stealth back in '99. They, and the 3000GT's, are beautiful cars. I was quite upset that, at over 6'4", I was too big for them. Crying or Very sad

Too bad I'll never be able to afford one. Sad

That's one of the reasons that I love it. It's aged well(as opposed to the Stealth, with its pop-up headlights and single taillight).

Well, maybe British sports cars are best in green, but the 3000GT always looked best in black. Proof:

Not to good at this internet thing yet, eh, Quincy?

Here, I'll hand-hold you by providing the links:

http://www.edmunds.com/used/20...specs.html

http://www.edmunds.com/used/20...specs.html

Note that the 2000 model is representative of all Grand Am GT's built after '99.

Let's compare the two, shall we?

323i has a 2.5L V6 which produces 170 horsepower, and 181 lb. ft. of torque. It has an EPA rating of 20MPG city, 29MPG highway with the stick shift transmission.

Grand Am GT has a 3.4L V6 which produces 175 horsepower and 205 lb. ft. of torque. It has an EPA rating of 20MPG city, and 32MPG highway with the automatic transmission. That's with regular octane gas.

Note that, even though the Grand Am GT has a larger displacement engine, which produces more horsepower and torque, and is connected to a supposedly less efficient transmission, and weighs 15 lbs. more than the 323i, it yields better overall fuel economy. I wonder, whatever happened to that so-called superior German engineering? Rolling Eyes

Not only is the road handling index better, the Grand Am GT also has a slightly shorter stopping distance. This in spite of the fact that it is a slightly heavier car. Wink

Of course, we're talking 2002 here. Today, you could buy a BMW 328i coupe for over $35,000; or you could get a G6 GXP for $10,000 less. Hmm, a German engineered car with a 3.0L engine that produces 230HP and 200 lb. ft. of torque, or an American built car with a 3.6L engine that produces 252 HP and 251 lb. ft. of torque? You get bonus points if you knew that the G6 GXP also gets better fuel mileage; 20/28 vs. the 328i's pitiful 18/27.

I personally feel that BMW's are overrated, but clearly, you're buying what they're selling. Buy on, Quincy! Laughing

BTW the 323i has a in line 6,big difference. You don't know much about cars,if you think a nose heavy car 64/36 weight distribution FWD will outhandle a car with perfect 50/50 weight distribution RWD.

This is like me arguing a 3series handles better than a Porsche Cayman.
Why do you think the new Pontiac G8 is getting great reviews unlike the Grand Am when it was in production? because they copied BMW and didn't make it el cheapo way a la Grand Am contrary to what you said.
You're like a taliban leader in denial even right before He gets blown away by a hellfire missile from an UAV.
I'm gonna stop here,I don't think you're smart enough to realize when you're wrong so it's a waste of time, really.

Nice, I had a 1990 Saab 900 Turbo, it was a great car.

Well over 30mpg, reliable, stylish, and fun to drive.

Wow, Quincy, you provided such a witty, compelling argument. You really slammed my facts down with...your opinion. You must think the world has gone mad, going from RWD platforms to more expensive, more complicated, worse handling FWD platforms. Boy, do I ever feel like a Taliban loser now. Rolling Eyes

There was no 99 dodge stealth, they dropped the stealth in 96. I had a 95 and it was a great car.

trip6: Speaking of Vipers, you might prefer the Hennessey Venom 1000TT...

1000 horsepower (with a 1200 horsepower option) letting it achieve 0-60 mph in a mere 2.25 seconds. Interested? You can find out more here. Absolutely crazy.

I drive a BMW E46 coupe (with a disastrous engine design fault BMW have swept under the carpet!! Evil or Very Mad )

Even though it's a 2.8L 6 cylinder engine, I managed a 100 mile trip at 39.7mpg which was 50/50 town and motorway(freeway) driving. I love the car despite the fact the reliability is nowhere near those of my previous E36 coupes, it just looks great and even with it's rubber band sized tyres it can handle the crap roads in the UK with style and shrug off the cheapness of the UK government's road repairs Razz

The new coupes look terrible though! Laughing

I just bought a new Opel Astra Classic 2. It's basically the old Opel Astra G model but made in Poland.

Love it.

I wonder how much it would cost to rebadge it as a Holden. That'd be cool.

I'm driving a gold 2004 Chevy Malibu.

V6, 26.5 mpg city, which is about the only driving I do. I'd be tempted to do an E85 conversion but it costs about $450 just for the kit, much less installation, and they've gotten mixed reviews. (E85 is widely available and dirt cheap here in the American Midwest.)

I see the Impala comes in an E85 version as of 2007. Maybe I'll just wait a couple of years and pick up one of those. Just like Warren Buffet, I never buy new.

Interesting. It appears that tnt has changed the forum code so that large pictures don't screw up the formatting anymore. Instead, we get a scroll bar. Still though, please use postimage.org for your large images. Everyone can see the thumbnail and those that want the image in all its glory can click through.
