|
|
I just bought a new second hand car. Which is still pretty expensive here in the Netherlands, because of some ridiculous tax. For example: a new Audi TT, cheapest model starts at € 46.800,-- here. The very same car costs in Germany just € 31.900,--, in Sweden € 33.000.-- and in Belgium € 33.600,--. I think in Europe only Denmark beats The Netherlands concerning car prices.
Anyway... This brings me to the question: are you fond of cars and if so, what are you driving?
Oh yeah, I almost forgot to share what I bought. It is a 2003 Audi TT Quattro 1.8t, 165 KW/225 bhp.
Edit: and here are some pictures:
And this is what I upgraded from (Mitsubishi Colt 1.8 GTi, 1992):

Ok, this will be fun
A little bit of my car history:
My first car was a 1979 Chevy Malibu with (merely) a 6 cyl 292ci engine. Lovely car, even if it spent tons of gas and took 15 minutes to start during frosty winter mornings
Here's a pic. Mine was brown tho.
Next car was a Suzuki SJ413 on 35" tires with a 2 litre Toyota Cressida engine and no power steering. It burned about 1 litre of oil per week and had an electric engine fan you had to turn on manually via a switch in the dashboard.
Then I got myself a Fiat Panda. It packed a massive 1 litre engine that blasted about 60 horses or something . A friend of mine told me he got it up to 130K/ph while going downhill once
Mine was a 4x4 type and was *great* fun during snowy days. No matter how much I pushed the little bastard it never died. Sold it as a spare after my ex broke the 3rd gear.
I also owned a Benz E280, which I got as a gift and used to crash down a signpost once, a Mazda 323 Stw 4wd, a Volvo 240 Stw and an Opel Astra Stw.
Another one of my favorites was a Mercury Topaz I had for about a year and a half. 2.3 litre 4 cyl engine that could give a punch if needed, but driving American cars fast on roads that are full of nasty turns isn't really fun. Parking it was a bitch too, even harder than on the Malibu even though the Mercury was smaller. Great while driving on highways tho
Right now I'm driving one of the most boring, basic cars in the history of automobiles. The Toyota Yaris:

My first car was a 1976 Mercury Monarch (sorry the pics are ugly - it was also my first digital camera):
My second was a 1978 Lincoln Continental... haven't got my pics of it online yet.
My third (and current) is a 1997 Ford F-150.
I'm currently looking for a lightly used Suburban. _________________ |

OOoohh! Please do post pics of the Continental
I'd seriously like to get a Suburban, but as gas prices here are 120 isk per litre (around $7 per gallon) I think twice before acting _________________ |

I'll let this be as the other thread is just a bunch of dead imagelinks by now.
As for myself, I don't drive a car and I'm proud of it |

Becasue the kids are getting bigger and older, I've had to trade my VW Golf GTi in for a seven seat VW Touran.
Still got the 2.0L TDi Touran Sport, however...
Looks something like this:

My first car which was a John Goss Special Ford XB Falcon Coupe with a 302 Cleveland V8. Only 260 of these were made, mine had the blue bonet instead of green.
Our current little car is a 1993 Holden Nova which is just a re-badged Toyota Corolla. _________________ NES fan boys piss me off.

Ford Focus
Is it me or do the Non-Brits on this site have much more cooler cars? Is it a price thing seeing as everything is so damn expensive here in the UK? For fu*ks sake - even Michael BAllack was complaining about the cost of things here and he is on £100k a week!!! _________________ |

Ok, since I have changed the car after the previous car thread..
Nowadays I have this one in black:
Its a Suzuki Swift 1997. We usually only get Japanese cars. Recently some Chinese and local made cars are also becoming popular. European and American cars are very expensive here so only the elite own the BMWs, Audis, Mercedes, Hummers and Fords. _________________ |

Hot!!!
My first car was a '70 Mustang in white. Gorgeous, eh? Man do I miss that car. I knew just how to race her, too, to blow by the boys in their Chevys.
Now I drive a Ford Bronco II. Nothing special, but I like it. |

1994 L reg Mini Sprite 1275cc
I don't own the one in the picture but it's the exact same make, model and colour. Driving a proper Mini is like real life Mario Kart!!!
