Right, I've had a go at this game now and I'm thinking that a better way to score it, competition wise, would be by progression, since both your current level and the number of items you have collected are clearly visible on the 'game over' screen. Any complaints?
Here's mine:
77,900.
Or,
6 bits of level 6.
depending on. _________________ Hey, you. Dumbass. Yeah, you in the tank. Cosy in there? |

My first attempt at this game. 14,400 pts - lost 3 lives to turtles defending a coke can. Tsk!
Its a strange game but I must admit it has its charms and the Zzap lads did like it. It a soothing game in comparison to a lot out there. _________________ If there is a Maze in it I don't want to know about it! |

Another go... up to 46360 now. I really *hate* those turtles. Not so easy to lure them to the river. I'm calling it a night.

Wow. Is that for real? Hope you didn't have to play 5 hours for a single game to get that? It wouldn't be worth it.
 |
Well, obviously I wasn't playing it for the first time. Yeah, I was playing for 2 hours straight, maybe more, and I was getting pretty careless by the end cause I was fed up with it. I mean, the difficulty level doesn't change after a point.. _________________

Hmm, this is not looking so good when even I can post this score on my third attempt:
91,960 - 11 bits of level 5
And there was me thinking Wizball was gonna be broken...

Yeah, what's the point? I got 200,000+ once. Which will be worth 20 league points. _________________

Most impressive Rog. *doffs hat* My current "best" - about 20'040 - is unprintably bad, so I won't bother with a screenie. It has been about fifteen years since I plaed this flipping game though... _________________ "If you think that the work security systems still overlook 'pr0n' you're an idiot."

So, let me get this straight: the score counter maxes out near 1 million, and the game loops at level 5 indefinately? _________________

Merman, you've scored an average of about 25 points each round this year, so I don't see whats so terrible about 20 pts this round.
No-one has to play this game if they don't want to; I've been known to take a month off in the past if the game isn't one I've wanted to play. If it's fun, tho, why not?
As I've said in the past, we're playing games that are 20 years old here, every so often we're going to play one that someone has played a lot. We had complaints like this about Dropzone, which, lets face it, is perfect for competition play.
I will repeat the sacred creed of the Lemon Game Competition, as printed at the start of every voting thread:
Remember to choose games that are suitable for competition play!
Hopefully everyone tries to do this. But be aware that not everyone plays each game at the same level; whilst one person may be able to clock wizball with their eyes closed, another may have not played it before and be highly unlikely to complete it within a month's play. _________________

My point was that there doesn't seem much point playing, when someone puts in a high score like that so quickly... plus I'm away on holiday for the next two weeks, reducing my playing time anyway. _________________ |

I dunno about the rest of you, but it looks like it's going to take ME longer than one day to max out the score counter...
141,940 - 1 bit of level 10
Note that if eleven bits of rubbish are still visible on the status bar, that I've therefore collected only one of them...
Grats to Roger Frames on his awesome score! _________________ Hey, you. Dumbass. Yeah, you in the tank. Cosy in there? |

I don't think the game loops that early. I'm pretty sure there are more snakes, turtles, ants and hazards to deal with after level 5. Maybe it happens at level 10 or 20 or something. Besides, the beauty of the game is it's unpredictability. You can never be sure you're doing well, cause the next moment you're running out of cals and it's game over.
A few tips:
- Forget about log-dancing. Saving swimmers gives you the same bonus points.
- It doesn't really matter if you have 3 or 9 lives. Instead, focus on how many cals you have. In later levels, giant ants steal these straight from your hut. You can get the cals back by running over the ants.
- You can have 9 lives and still lose if you run out of cals. When you lose a life, you need at least 1000 cals in order to continue.
- Each time you save a swimmer, you are awarded 1000 cals.
- Watering the plant to the left of the hut makes it grow, and when it's fully grown you can fetch it to get temporary super powers.
- When a swimmer asks for help, rush to him or you lose a life. _________________

How do you water that plant? I went to it and pressed fire but nothing happened. |

Cheers for the hints, Rog!
Remember tho people, we're ranking this round by progression through the game. So points are largely irrelevant (I'd still save those swimmers tho cos you lose a life if they drown!).
Also, everyone remember to take a screenshot of the 'game over' screen so we can actually SEE how far you progressed in your game.
<edit> Oh, and I spose you get extra points off lives too... silly me... </edit>

Just push towards it. You will then hear a dinging sound and it will grow a bit. _________________
