I was on a flea market and saw a man selling a Commodore bag (or whatever that white "travel bag" is...) and inside of it was an old C64 with some other stuff with it.
Me: "How much does that cost"
He: "Three"
Me: "Umm... oh... well... what? What do you mean? Three what?"
He: "Huh?"
Me: "How much does it cost?"
He: "Three euros."
Me: "Huh!? So cheap!?"
He: "Yeah. I've just got to get rid of it."
Me: "Ok, that's a deal!"
Oh, how much I smiled after that!
First of all, I thought that as I don't have the cord that goes from the C64 to the TV and hence can't play anything with my old machine, I would get the cord plus some games even if the just bought machine didn't work. 3 euros isn't too much for that.
Then, if it all would work, it would be even better.
So, however it end up to be, I'd be happy.
I dragged the bag to my home and made a test. The machine turned on (the red light burning) but I couldn't get the picture to the TV. So, there is something wrong with it. Then I decided to test the cord to my old machine. It worked just fine. The picture was clear and all.
So, here's what I got:
-the carrying bag (or whatever it is called)
-C64 (the old model... doesn't work properly)
-a datasette (I don't know if it works. I couldn't load a game with it. Then again, I couldn't load that same game with my old datassette but another game worked just fine with that one. I've got to do some tests... I've tried two games but they didn't work)
-The Arcade joystick (works very well)
-two manuals (Finnish and English)
-tapes
--Super Dogfight (just the tape. I guess it's not original as on the cassette it reads "Ensamrätt i Sverige: Tial Trading" and I've got no clue what it means. Maybe you Swedish guys here could help?)
--Sabre Wulf (original)
--Advance of the Mega Camels (original. AKA. Attack of the Mutant Camels)
--Rasputin (original)
--four copied cassettes full of turbo games (I've only tried to load one game yet and it was Radar Rat Race)
I think it was a good deal even though the machine itself didn't work. Got a few original games, a working joystick, manuals, the "C64 to TV" cord and a carrying bag for only 3 euros. |

Oh how I'd love we'd have flea markets like those you mention, here in Spain.
... anyway, if we'd had any, I'm sure I could only find dusty and non-working rubber-key Speccies here...

Yeah Eye got a special packaging.
Got more tapes myself: Now Games (Collection), Olympic Skier, Demons of Topaz, Final Whistle, Outback, Swag, Pogostick Olympics (replacement), Super Gridder, Jocky Wilsons Compendium of Darts. Vera Cruz, Video Card Arcade, Basil Mouse, Heavy Metal and Loopz Collection /(replacement)
Better go test and dump into tap format. |

Hi all,
Went to a flea market today and saw an 1551 in it's original box. Couldn't resist buying it but had to buy a Plus/4 with it (bxd also). Everything for 10 eurons. This must be one of the most ugly boxes that Commodore used. But not bad for a Sunday afternoon.
Only drawback that I was on my bi-cycle and it was 10 kilometers back to my home.
Got one arm longer than the other now
Greetings Richard |

Just bought:
1 x C64C in original box with 2 power supplies
1 x Goldstar 13" color monitor
1 x datasette in original box
1 x 1581 disk drive without power supply, tried with my 1541-II PS, but didn't work
1 x The Arcade joystick black
1 x joystick I can't identify
Some tapes (not originals)
Funny is that little note from Commodore that was still in the C64 box:
NOTICE:
After turning the computer off please wait at least 30 seconds before turning the computer on again to ensure that all data in memory has been reset.
Shorter reswitching intervals may cause undesired operation.

I just made another XE1541 cable, third attempt. Turns out it was XP causing it not to work, as soon as I booted into dos (new partition, long story) it worked perfectly. I've therefore just bought an ancient Monochrome laptop running DOS 6 to use as a file server. Does this count?
Oh and I already made composite video cable with a jack for audio and RCA video output. The picture quality is still appaling! Sounds great though FWIW, I used maplins DIN plug, the 9-pin as I wasn't sure how many were needed. I just heated up the spare pins and they pulled right out. In actual fact, they sell a 180 degree DIN that would work perfectly as long as you don't use the Luminance pin. |

A black leather Commodore-bag in mint condition. Got it for 8 CHF, that's about 5 EUR. Don't know what it should be used for. It's to small for a breadbin or a floppy-disc...I'll post a picture as soon as possible _________________ My life without a breadbin would be

Firefox, is it this bag?
EDIT: Image removed.
If so, that is the bag that came with the SX-64.

Just got my hands on two SFD 1001 disk drives!
Apparantly only a few hunderd of these are in existence.
From commodore.ca:
| Quote: | The Amazing Commodore SFD 1001
What is so unusual about this drive, you ask? Well simply put, this drive allows you to store a full meg of data on regular single density disks!! Pretty amazing when you consider when these drives were made!!(The early 80s.) There were hard drives at this time with 1 meg capacities and this drive manages to do it on cheap single density disks!! We can only put 1.44MB on High Density floppies even today (2003). There are probably only a few hundred of these left in the world. Courtesy of Paul Gable.
The SFD-1001 which was sold mostly through liquidators was an IEEE-488 based drive. Back in the days when these were being sold I heard it said that SFD stood for 'Super Fast Drive' because it was parallel.
The Single Floppy Disk 1001 works with PET or C64/128 hardware. It was essentially half an 8250 drive and had a parallel IEEE input connection. As such, it needed an I an IEEE cartridge on the C64/128. |
