This game is brutally difficult so we are all in for a challenge (maybe even Shteev?).

My very first score to submit in a Lemon competition Smile

19700

I wouldn't call it bloody difficult for now, there are some moments of tense action, but with a little bit of training they are easily passable, I reckon.

EDIT: Score updated.

Still a bit rusty. Level 1 is actually one of the harder levels in the game.

That occured to me as well after finally reaching level 2.
I am impressed how faithful this conversion is.

Seems OK, this! Much harder than the Amiga version! Some of those bullets move a bit sharpish, there are a few spots you need to learn are coming up otherwise you have no chance.

Is the timer running in the upper left of the screen of any use? I know that it shows the time you survived but that is not of much use, is it?

Level 1 is harder than level 2 (I've completed the latter on my second try).As for the first level:the speed powerup is the key,if you want to survive those pink invincible enemies.
Anyway,here's my first score:

Whatever the hell SWIV is, there should be an official version. I've never even heard of this thing.

Today I played Gettysburg for about six hours and the Army of the Potomac(tm) is losing their ass. At any rate, I have yet to play this game.

Well, you may remember the arcade game Silkworm which was converted to the home computers by The Sales Curve. SWIV is an unofficial follow-up to Silkworm, since it features the helicopter and the jeep...

BTW, any ruling on whether we should play as helicopter or jeep? Seems most people are playing the copter...

Correct...SWIV actually stands for Silk Worm IV, why IV, I have no idea. Maybe they scrapped the 2nd and the 3rd sequels Very Happy

From the manual:

S.W.I.V. - SECRET WEAPONS INSTALLATION VERIFICATION
Primary objective: Verify existence of the enemy's secret weapons installations and destroy them.

S.W.I.V. - SPECIAL WEAPONS INTERDICTION VEHICLES
Secondary objective: Interdiction mission: the destruction by military force of all enemy units.

S.W.I.V. - SILKWORM IV
Mission warning: Use extreme caution. Enemy units are armed with deadly weaponry, including the enhanced SILKWORM IV homing missile.

Are we playing oficially with Heli or are you using it because it's easiest?

My first attempts are with tank and 13.750 points. I'm not going to post screenshot because I'll try Heli then (I didn't remember where I can choose the vehicle, I played this game a lot of years ago with a friend in 2 player-mode, but generally not alone). I didn't played too much then but I remember the game as a very funny game (in 2 player mode).

There was also an interview in some Amiga magazine where the programmers of Swiv said that because the game was inspired by SilkWorm and it was vertically scrolling they called it SWIV - SilkWorm In Vertical.
