Hi all!
I see Kim has made an introduction section in the forum which I personally think is a great idea
Anyways. As some of you may know by now I'm an Icelander and seemingly the only active Icelander on the forums. I'm also considered quite weird by my fellow countrymen/women for still using a C64, and I have been using one for almost 20 years now! With some breaks tho
Thanks to this forum I've finally found some people who share my interrests and to whom I can converse about them without getting looked at like a freak
I'm a social worker and have been for almost 6 years now. Now I work mostly with the physically handicapped and the mentally challenged, but I've also worked with people with severe psychological problems. Hard work, pays badly but is fun for a while
Anyways, this about sums it up. Got any questions please ask, and I'll also use the oppertunity to shamelessly plug my site http://gorkur.tk where you can read about me, my C64's and my rants _________________ |

Dont quit AA yet, Roger. I think Kims intention were to let the new people introduce themselves here, not us "old" ones (doesn't we all know eachother as of yet?) |

Hehehe, no, I don't think there'll be enough space for you all, but there is a guesthouse across the street
http://mbl.is/mm/fasteignir/fasteign/?eign=189673 <- You can see pics of my target here. Haven't bought it yet but I am trying to finance it. It's a good thing I usually eat supper at work btw
Appartments in Iceland are ways too expensive. This one is *very* cheap by Reykjavik's standards but it will mean that if I want to hold on to my lifestyle (beer, sigs, net) I'll have to sacrifice the car. But then again, when you're living in town central why bother with a car _________________ |

Hah, I've probably walked past that house - I rented room from Nemesis1's (of NemeSIDs collection fame) mother for the 10 days I was in Iceland. That was along Snorrabraut, can't remember the number. I gotta visit you if I ever come to Iceland again, we can play some C64 games instead of Chaos on Spectrum |

Snorrabraut lies just next to this street.
If you'd come to Iceland again we'd have a beer and C64 night for sure _________________

So how are things going Gorkur?
When are you on the move?
Will all furniture fit?
Is there a nice pub in the area?? _________________

I made an offer for the place, but the owner made a crappy counter offer. I'm not sure if I'll make another offer for this place. There are three other appartments in this same area (downtown where *all* the nice pubs are ) that I'm going to look at.
Continue wishing me luck, ok _________________ |

I have finally found an appartment!
It's a garage that's been decorated as an appartment, and a pretty nice one too. There's enough space for me, my C64s and my pets, and I even get a fridge and a microwave to use while I live there.
The rent is pretty low, especially considering where it's placed since it's near the University and town central. I'll be paying 40.000 ISK which equals €410.7 and $508, which is very cheap by Icelandic standards, especially since it includes heating, electricity and an internet connection
I estimate that I'll start moving in sometime next week _________________ |

Hi there!
I hope you won't have to go through too much trouble while moving. I'll probably move this fall and as much as I'm looking forward to the new job, I hate the idea of moving (again).
Hope you'll love the new apartment
Let people know when you move in, so there can be a house warming party |

I think limit is 30Kg on the plane, so I'll bring 60 cans
(edit)
Hmm, there might be a tax/customs problem...

I finished moving yesterday. Now all I have to to is empty a few boxes and organize my stuff. The beauty of it all is the fact that my C64 is in a much more usefull position now than in my old place
I will post some pics later _________________ |
