Original game, for competition purposes, I think.

It'd be cool to see some people designing new levels as well, tho; maybe I'll even give it a go myself!

Is there any way to avoid the randomness of the starting level?
Or am I playing the wrong version??
(I'm running the one at GB64)

So far... i'm quite liking this game Smile

Starting level is chosen randomly from among a specific set of screens...

DtP is going to have a hard month trying to capture the title. Whenever a game from Shteev's ballot is chosen, cans of whoopass are about to be opened. Very Happy

This is one of those rare occasions when I've actually played the compo game before. This is a game I used to play a lot... I'll submit a score soon...

Christ, what's with the backgrounds ? My eyes hurt.

Question: are all the power-ups question marks ? A bit silly I think.

Here's a bit of a start...still a long way to go. I really truly love playing this game and hope that people take the time to see just how brilliant it is, and how terrible it makes arkanoid look.

Yup, I admit it.. When I looked at the game during the vote to see what everyone was voting for, I saw a half-arsed Arkanoid clone. Now that I've actually played it, I have to agree that this is a top-ranking break-out game for the C64. The levels are a challenge, so far not impossible but more than one is plain tough.

I think I'll be spending quite some time on this one the next couple of weeks..

My first score:

14825

I never played Traz before! It's a good game but Arkanoid both feels and looks a bit better (IMHO).

I sucked seriously in the Arkanoid-compo and was 15th out of 23 competitors. Let's see how many that will take part in this compo Wink

Never played this one before. It's very challenging with all those bats! Way better than Arkanoid, no doubt.
Like others, I'm annoyed by the fact that you can't see what power-ups you collect.

First attempt:

18425

I'm doing disastrously bad at this, and as usual I'm blaming the game; too many elements of chance to make it feel like a game of skill, Batty is better, blah blah I'm a bad loser... Razz

I'm a big fan of Batty as well. But I love TRAZ.

And the power-ups are random, so you never know what you are getting - hence the question mark...

I think we need a good version...the GameBase one is a bit stuffed up:

Thankfully I didn't hit this when I got this:

48,550
This is my highest score so far, but I can already see that Master Hannibal has got it right..this will be a pretty intense competition Smile
