I see...

1. Mama Llama
2. Lazer-force
3. Tilt (codemasters version)
4. T.R.A.Z.
5. Ancipital

By the way...what's changed in a month? You did vote for it last month... I am a bit curious as to why is it not suitable for a compo, here at the games compo we've had whole topics on suitability and what is good for a games compo and such.

Generally the consensus was reached that "weird" games are a good thing because it encourages people to actually try something they might not, and it certainly worked for...for.... (I don't want to say it, because otherwise he will write 30 paragraphs on it)...another Jeff Minter game.

EDIT: I've thought really hard about this months choices. I thoroughly recommend all present. Lazer force is a really pretty and devilishly hard blaster that should be a good time, tilt is a novel game and is one that if you persevere should be good, (I've never found the patience myself, but the one time I did manage to get the first board out first try was really rather cool). All other games should be known at this point.

I have the strange feeling that Operation Wolf is this month's favourite... Does anyone realize how hideously (impossibly?) difficult it is?

Here is my copy&paste vote showing my excellent sense for good and compo suited games Wink

1. Hunter's Moon
2. Rock n Roll
3. Duotris
4. Bubble Ghost
5. Krakout

Compared to a game that plays better with a lightgun and only has six levels? I'm not even going to bother voting, because apparently my taste in games is crap...

Why do you guys take it so personally? I never said your taste was crap.
Look at the 10th round which ended yesterday. The Way of Exploding Fist is an excellent game, but it wore (and bore) everybody out so much that nobody wanted to play it anymore and improve his score. I just have a feeling that Mama Llama will lead to the same situation.
The fact that a game is not good for a combo doesn't mean that it is crap. Take Last Ninja 2 or Lazy Jones for example, both are superb games, but they are not suitable for the compo.

I'm in agreement with merman: how can a game that arguably needs a lightgun for effective emulatory play (and in my experience PC lightguns are about as rare as a declaration of love from Akira to theaveng) be any more suitable than a game which anyone can play if they just take a little time to understand the rules? I mean, I don't really like Paradroid - a game that the majority of voters have scored "10" - that much, but at least I had the patience to work out (with the help of some research) how to play it before I judged the title...so try playing a game for more than five minutes before you write it off as crap.

Why don't you guys get it? When and where did I say Mama Llama was crap?!
Quoting myself again:

And by the way, you knock the control system of Operation Wolf, but Mama Llama isn't exactly known for its smooth controls either.

I've never played Operation Wolf myself, aside from a short peep at it. Is it playable only with a lightgun? Can you play it with a mouse? Or a joystick? Those of you who are voting for it, enlighten me: how do YOU envisage controlling it if it were to be voted in this round? Bear in mind that all competition entrants must be able to play the same way without some players having hardware benefits over others, so, really, lightguns are out of the question.

I have never had any problems playing it with a joystick.
The game let's you choose between joystick and NEOS mouse, I don't think it even supports light guns inherently.

What's this ? Thanks Steve for meddling in my favour once again, you're very considerate. Actually I said that I'm sceptic on Merman's taste in games, I never said that his taste is crap. Oh and Merman please vote, I'd be very sad to know that I caused you so much damage by my comment so that you abstain from voting from now on. Shocked !!!

Both Mama Llama and Operation Wolf will turn out to be dissapointing during a competition. So vote Hunter's Moon and everyone will be a happy C-64 player. Thumbs Up

There are TWO versions of Operation Wolf. One uses mouse or joystick, the other uses LIGHTGUN or mouse (and it's the NEOS mouse, not even the official Commodore mouse).

Rather than turning this into another "Vote for my game because..." thread, I'll just say...

NO to Op Wolf

and vote for

1. Hunter's Moon
2. Mama Llama
3. Lazer Force
4. Krakout
5. Bionic Granny Very Happy
