Seconds away, round 3!
A true classic this month, from way back in 1984. Is it suited for competition play? You decide! It's BOULDERDASH
RULES:
games compo starts now and will end the 27th of March, 24:00 (midnight) GMT
the aim of the game is to score as much points as possible.
post screenshots with your highest score in this thread.
please ensure that you own a legal copy of this game to compete.
don't cheat! - we know where you live!!!
DOWNLOAD
We're using a Competition Edition for this round, written by tnt. Cheers mate!
No extra lives for score, although you can get them from bonus levels.
Post screenshots of the title screen as the in-game screen is identical to the original so we can't know which version you played. Title screen has slighly altered colors for that purpose.
EXTRAS:
if ya have the balls, check out The Scorelord pages!
SOME INSTRUCTIONS:
Dig through the dirt, collect the diamonds, find the exit, and avoid falling rocks.
The exit won't open until you've picked up enough diamonds.
You can dig, or collect a diamond, on a square next to you without moving yourself, by holding down the fire button.

Let me know ASAP if there are any anomalities (except for missing extra lives, of course! ) |

well, my first result isn't very good. Got stuck in a rather easy cave, but I'll complete that one in the next try:
Firefox: 4'700 points

So he's the one who's going to beat me in my third favourite game? Sandman beat me in Paradroid, Blabgorius IV in H.E.R.O. |

@tnt: I notice that you get a bonus life for each bonus level, whether you complete it or not. Is that intentional? I quite like it, tbh, since the bonus caves in Boulderdash I are a bit sucky. _________________ Hey, you. Dumbass. Yeah, you in the tank. Cosy in there? |

Remarkably, my failures mostly came from walling myself in as opposed to getting myself crushed, but still:

Yes, you always get bonus life when entering the intermission. Also, you don't lose life if you die in one of them. I don't see that as a problem as you are going to lose lifes faster then one per each four levels, at least when you reach difficulty level 5. |

After getting killed in a Bonus-level (Intermission) the game moves on to the next regular level (Cave).
There's also an interesting version available from Marek Roth. His version fits for the game-compo, too:

Though, as you ordered it as a "hardcore" version, it gives no bonus lifes at all, not even when entering a bonus round. So, if you prefer making your life more difficult than those of your competitors, go ahead! |

21'506 is a very nice score.
