Kings of beer that's got all kind of fruits in it, perhaps...
When it's about true beer - Germany's in front...
Everybody knows that...
But sorry. This is no beer-thread, i'm afraid...

Having visited the International Beer Awards festival several times I have to say that most countries can produce some damn good beer if they try...
But of course I'm a great fan of beer in general. _________________ I felt like I could conquer the world today, but I couldn't get the front door open |

The smurfs are great but Danish beer is best
Actually the smurfs are brilliant
There was a smurf-related scandal here a few years back. It seems that when they were making copies of the smurf video's they taped them over some old porn movies.
So on some tapes you'd get a porn movie after the smurfs
This, off course, made more than a few mothers pretty pissed _________________ |

well the beer is the only thing I'm really chauvinistic about actually.
I could invite you all to get shitloaded on belgian beer, the first who gets drunk pays for the whole evening
and it won't be me, I don't drink danish beer _________________ |

I've tried Stella Artois, Hoegaarden and Westmalle before Matt. I agree that they are good, but | Quote: | | after you had a few of those each you'd probably end up in a deep coma hehe |

Only Hoegaarden is worth mentioning in that list. It's the only decet belgium beer.
Dutch beer on the other hand is much better: Heineken, Grolsch, Amstel, Brandbier (one of my favorites), etc...
Except Oranjeboom, tastes like piss. _________________ "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."

Blarg, I don't like beer at all. I'll drink it in social occasions or really hot days though.
I like my single malt scotch. Here's my collection so far:

Actually, a lot of Australian beer DOES suck... West End, VB, XXXX (They call it that because putting "Beer" on the can would be false advertising), Fosters, all tastes like piss. Coopers, However, is pretty damn good, especially thier Vintage line.
We do have the biggest "Stubbies" on the planet though! The "Darwin Stubby" is a 2L bottle! (Dunno how good the beer in it is, never got to taste it )
I would really love to go on a European pub crawl and sample some decent beers over there though.
[edit] - I'm sure we've done this beer discussion before, but I'm damned if I can find it in the search... Oh well _________________

It's a pity that the Australian beers that get sold overseas are mostly from the "sucks" list, which probably taints most people's opinions of our brewing skills somewhat.
Myself, I think that both the Tasmanian breweries (Cascade and Boags) produce some great beers, as does Coopers. The trouble with some of the better beers though is that they are too damn expensive to drink regularly.
Oh well, back to the floor polish I guess. _________________ I felt like I could conquer the world today, but I couldn't get the front door open |
