It must have been over 2 years or so when I first registered on this forum and going through e-mails dated 2003 was of no help so I had to re-register Very Happy and no doubt some of you might recall I asked about Kim the good looking girl always on the frontpage Laughing I will say no more cus Kim would probably slap me Sad

It's good to be back and yes I had a C64 for years and loved it to death the same with me Amiga 500 and 1200. I got decent spec PC and I run CCS64 Emulator on a 19" screen. One game I love is manic Miner and going back 22 years which would make me 12 I used to hammer that game everyday and I couldn't get past the screen with the telephones Laughing but I will in time.

What I admire with CCS64 is that you get to play the game in its original format, untampered with Very Happy Another game called Nemesis was a classic I played it to the point where I could complete the game without losing a life and it would start over Wink I will complete Manic Miner before my time is up Laughing

The beauty of all this, is we all have experienced a machine which was a pure classic and the generation of today will never share that experience, even if they manage to obtain one. If they come accross the last model produced, which was light cream colour and had either a faster CPU or better graphics chip then I will hunt them down Very Happy

Na we have experienced the C64 for over a decade and some of us were lucky enough to have bought one when it first came out and it was well worth the money we paid for it. Even if someone obtains one for the 1st time ever they simply cannot experience what we did during that decade we seen it's birth and its end. But it is kept alive by sites such as this and by millions of other people all over the world who enjoy a bit of nostalgic.

I know the C64 games are primative compared to the PC/Xbox/PS2 etc. but at the end of the day graphics are not everything, its playability and if Manic Miner for the C64 has held my interest for 22 years then name me a game on any computer/console that will keep you interested for over 2 decades. I just don't think in 22 years time people will still be interested in a game they once played and Manic Miner will remain on top with its Crown of Glory and always will.

Mathew Smith the author of the Manic Miner and the JSW games is considered a GOD on the net and he is the only programmer I know of who has people so interested in Manic Miner they want to meet him in person to thank him for giving us a game which will still be floating around the net when we are all old and on our last legs Laughing

I am still yet to find the complete 14 graphical adventures written by Scott Adams. Where is the question, someone must have them.

Feel free to add me to your ICQ buddy list Rolling Eyes

BladeSE< aka Shane UK

That's a picture of Matthew Smith at last weekend's Classic Gaming Expo UK. A very strange but talented guy, he gave an hour long lecture and Q and A session, which was worth hearing. I also got his autograph - "Matthew Smith, International Programmer of Mystery"

If you are then I can remember you. I had roughly a 9 month break from here too a while back; with change of circumstances at work and no internet at home, well they're both fixed now! Anyway I'm rambling here, so welcome back! Smile

Wow he does indeed look a very strange guy, but all the same he is one of very few talented programmers on this planet. I remember Software Projects and thats years a go. I did make a mistake in my age I am 34 and not 35 as I implied. Cheers for the picture, I wanted to meet this guy as well and thank him for bringing the out the most addictive and the playable game ever. Very Happy

Thanks for putting the pic up, I can post it on the manicminer site on yahoo groups where he will be admired by millions of fans. He will still be talked about in years to come when himslelf and lots of us have outstayed our welcome on this planet Laughing Long live this forum and Mattew Smith, man I bet he would be suprised that some people like me are still playing the famous Manic Miner and JSW games for over 2 decades, he is indeed the GOD of all programmers.

Greets to everyone Very Happy
