I just posted this in this forum hoping to draw the attention of as many people as possible. Wink

I'm Tommy. I'm a 26 year old Norwegian. I've been into C64 since about '83 when I got my first one. Progressed to a 128D some years later. Reluctantly sold it in '92 (one of my biggest regrets) and got an Amiga 500. As that wore off I got myself a PC. I spent hours and hours on the computer, often playing games. But I also did some very basic graphics programming in basic mode. Just signs and lines moving about, if you know what I mean. And also a bit of music programming, which was also very basic. Just little melodies. I feel extremely fortunate to have been around in the 80s, in this golden age of computer games. I feel that it all became about the money in the early/mid-90s, and the creativity went out the window with it. But the 80s was really unique in that respect, and it's not just nostalgia. There was an impressive amount of true classics being issued back then. A lot of those games had and still has a magical quiality about them. The creative visuals and music, the whole package. Hell even a very basic game like "Motor Mania" is more exciting than most of what gets put out today.

Oh and btw, my main passion in life is music, it has been for about 15 years now. I just love listening to it, performing etc. - I'm a musician. Got an ever growing CD collection. My taste is pretty eclectic. I started out as a Beatles fan, and it developed from there (if anyone's interested I can give you a full list of my fave artists...). And C64 music was defo part of my musical consciousness growing up, some great theme songs around...

Well anyway, I'm glad I found this brilliant website, and I can't wait to start communicating with old C64 fans. How many regular posters are there around? And where are you all from? A lot of Scandinavians? About what age are you all?

Well you all take care now, and I'll see you around.

Welcome to the madhouse... Err... Sorry, Forums! Very Happy

Well, I'm 25 in Australia. 1st commie was in '87 as an Xmas pressie, and I've still got it set up in the bedroom (much to the disgust of the wife...)

You're into music? Have you noticed the C64 remix scene? Some people here can probably give you links, there's quite an active community of people who remix Commie 64 game soundtracks - some great pieces out there!

There's definitely lots of Scandinavians on these here boards, who'll make you feel right at home. In fact, there are plenty of people from all around the world.

Music, did you say music. You must check out http://www.hvsc.c64.org/ for the ultimate collection of sid tunes and

http://remix.kwed.org for the best remixes of the music from your favourite games.

Welcome to Lemon64, your life will never be the same again!

Commie, as in communist? :p Just pulling your leg... I love the way Australians shorten words. Like: put another shrimp on the BARBIE. Wink

Anyway, thanks for welcoming me, Pup. I'm aware of the remixing scene. I've heard a few remixes, mainly "Last Ninja" ones. Some of them were pretty good. I should check out some more of them.

Thanks Thunderer. And thanks for the links. I haven't heard of neither, so they should defo come in handy. I did check out another SID site last night, (http://cia.c64.org/music/sid/) which was pretty good. Some great music and fond memories there.

Wink

Also thanks Sir Kidd and Half-Saint. Btw where are you from, Kidd?

And thanks everyone for making me feel so welcome. I originally posted this thread in the general discussions forum, seeing as I expected it would generate some C64 talk. I dunno why it was moved?... I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason behind it though. Smile

Don't be offended, there's nothing dirty or bad about that Chit Chat forum (no matter what certain users will try and tell you.... coughakiracough Wink ). We've had some trouble in the past with the main forum filling up with spam and sometimes our mods are a little over zealous at preventing the same thing happning again.[/url]

Don't mind Jeroen, he's an eternal newbie Wink

... oh and another rule. Never ask about the chick on the front page, that shall have to remain a mystery.

The site has been around since 1998. This version of the site was released late 2001, early 2002.

This is what it looked like circa 2000. http://web.archive.org/web/200...mon64.com/
