Never played Ikari Warriors before, but I did get a nice Nostalgia Rush from the Falcon Patrol 2 music on the intro screen
Here's a score to start you off:
29800
Everything moves a bit slowly, but there's a lot happening on the screen. I've found that the 'locked firing mode' (press the CBM key and see what happens) makes it much easier to a) shoot anything that isn't behind a big rock and b) run out of bullets. _________________ Hey, you. Dumbass. Yeah, you in the tank. Cosy in there? |

Only now do I realise that I have played this game, but not to great extent:
First try 13,600. |

There's a difficult tatrget for you Hannibal. |
Beat this, Thunderboy (and Shteev)!
I wouldn't be surprised if somebody scores more than 100.000 in this compo. |

This ones gonna be fun.
First attempt: 8400
Good luck all.
Quick question, yes I read the info on how to play but still don't know how to throw grenades. Using VICE, have fire button set to space, controls as cursor keys. _________________ Are you on the same island as I am? |

Hold down the fire button until the grenade is thrown. |

I'll stomp your ass later, Hannibal, but I have to stop now and go for a job interview...

This is a much better game than either Commando or Who Dares Wins. _________________ Hey, you. Dumbass. Yeah, you in the tank. Cosy in there? |

Was Emil put off by the trainers-off thing ? |
Thanks, I've been looking for something more happy to reflect my personality.

Yeah, he actually was. He hasn't played yet, because of that. I did explain him the rules beforehand, but apparently it just sunk in this weekend. He believes that IW is only funny in trainermode...I'm sure he'll lighten up in a couple of days. |

I'll be ready and waiting with a couple of hand grenades going your way
The same goes for you, Shteev. Go get that job and work long hours (As long as you can't play at work ).
It looks like we're going to get a close race this round. As long as I win thats fine. |

Good news: I got the job!
Bad news: (for you ) It's only 10 hours a week so I'll still have plenty of time left to allocate to the whupping of asses. Speaking of which:
90,600 - It's all a bit grenadey by this point.
Here's what I've figured out about the power-ups, if anyone wants to fill in the blanks I'd be grateful.
Purple: +50 ammo
White: +50 grenades
Black: +50 ammo+grenades
Green: smart bomb
Red: big grenades
Yellow: ???
Cyan: ???
Also: what does the red bar at the bottom of the screen do? _________________ Hey, you. Dumbass. Yeah, you in the tank. Cosy in there? |

I think the red bar represents the distance to the final target? I could be completely wrong....
Ah not, it is the fuel you got for the tank. |

Congrats on the new job shteev (as for the score, I'm just looking forward for beating it...).
I think that the cyan box is the one which allows your bullets to pass through obstacles such as rocks.
There's also one which makes the bullets go further, not sure which (I thought it was the white one).
The red bar, as Apollyon says, is the tank's fuel, and the black box refills it.
In the past my best was reaching the final town (and then being blown to pieces by those big grenades). Let's see if someone can complete the game this month. _________________ My top games: 1.Hawkeye, 2.Uridium, 3.Creatures II, 4.Delta, 5.Bubble Bobble, 6.Ikari Warriors, 7.Armalyte, 8.Bionic Commando, 9.Archon, 10.Buggy Boy. |

Nothing like a good ambush and a tank being blown up almost simutaneously.
