Just curious - are you allowed to post a challenge completely unconnected with the official competition? I was just thinking...it would be fantastic if there was a special thread for forumites to post specific games they would like to play in a challenge. That way, if a person notices a game in someone's list that they feel like playing in an unofficial competition, they are free to do so, and they will post the results in a new thread.
For example:
New Topic: Unofficial Competitions. (Posted: Friday)
qazi: Post any mini-challenges here!
shteev: I challenge qazi to a game of Iridis Alpha. Rules: Highest score wins. Terms: No cheats or trainers. Competition ends on Monday.
qazi: I accept.
(3 days later)
shteev: Here is my score: (img)shteev's pic.jpg(/img)
qazi: And here is mine: (img)qazi.jpg(img)
shteev: Goddamn qazi, you're too good at that game. I am in awe of your skill. _________________ "If you think that the work security systems still overlook 'pr0n' you're an idiot." |

you're allowed to do whatever you wan over here.
I hope that just won't spoil the 'official' games compo. that's my only concern actually.
let's debate _________________ |

I share your concerns Matt. Too many competitions means fewer players in each -> less challenge. On the other hand, the number of players in the compo seems to decrease and new things might bring back some players.
So I think you should go for it, Qazi!
I have been toying with the idea of making a "lemon64 Survivor" competition where players would be divided into two teams and given weekly assignments (playing various games, while working as a team). The loser team would then have to vote somebody off the team.
If enough ppl think it's a fun idea, we could try it out. I'm thinking 10-16 players is needed. (I'll open up another thread if theres any interest) |

I'm not a fan of week long competitions; mostly due to constraints on my own time, but partly at least because I don't think a week is long enough to fully explore a game. Of course, you can continue playing after the compo has ended, but you lose the feeling of competition and community, which is a nice thing.
Oh, and make the competitions open to all, cos I haven't got time to be challenged by everyone
What I'd actually like to see is a Lemon64 highscore table. Instead of challenging someone to a week long competition, you'd simply post 'CHCEK 0UT MY L33T SCOR£!!'. However, I'm aware that this may result in what hannibal fears; too many competitions with not enough players in each. And I agree thats a good thing to avoid.
And qazi: I did have a good long try on it, but I really don't like Iridis Alpha _________________ Hey, you. Dumbass. Yeah, you in the tank. Cosy in there? |

How about a tournament full of mini-games?
Instead of 1 month on 1 game, have 4 weeks on 4 games!
Okay, maybe not...it would only work with the accessible games, and members would only have a week to get a score...hmm...just a crazy thought. _________________ "If you think that the work security systems still overlook 'pr0n' you're an idiot." |

Hey, that would be great. But isn't there a minimum possible time that presumably everyone could get eventually? Still, it could be fun. Throw in a custom course competition and you're on! |

I'm in on this too. Choose which tracks we're using and I'll start racing. |

You want to play each track separately? I suggest that we pick 5 different and let the combined time be the score that counts. |
